IRON COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 27, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to check their properties for a missing 71-year-old woman who has dementia and is non-verbal.
Carol Stratton, who lives in Cedar City, is about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 115 pounds. She has blue eyes and gray hair. She was wearing an orange and blue sweater, a red hat, and a large jeweled necklace when last seen.
Stratton was last seen near 3700 West and 4000 North at 2 p.m. Saturday. It isn’t known in which direction she may be walking.
In an update posted later Saturday on Facebook, officials said: “We have had search teams out checking areas from SR-130 to Three Peaks and from Midvalley Road to 300 North. We are asking everyone to please check your home and outbuildings for Stratton.”
Another update Saturday said: “We currently have K-9 teams working the area and so please do not walk in this area. Driving in vehicles is fine please make sure someone knows where you are looking. We have used SUU aviation to help prior to dark. Without a light on her our local resources are limited and the Utah Highway Patrol helicopter is not available tonight. We are working through Arizona Department of Public Safety to see if they can assist. We have a drone flying the area as well which is equipped to see at night. Due to conflicting timelines and last known locations we are working multiple locations.”
Anyone who has seen Stratton or who has any information regarding her possible whereabouts is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 435-867-7550.
