SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 5, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A Jazz fan who pointed a laser into the eyes of a Houston Rockets player attempting a free throw Monday night has been banned from all NBA games for a year.

According to The Houston Chronicle, James Harden was at the free throw line when the fan pointed some sort of laser at his eyes.

In a statement made to the Chronicle, Harden said when he saw the laser the first time he thought it was a photo being taken.

“I went to the foul line again and it happened again,” Harden said. “The referee (Tom Washington) caught it before I did. That’s the first time that happened to me.”

The Chronicle states officials with the Utah Jazz escorted the man out of the game and he will not be allowed into any future NBA games until 2017.

NBA.com posted a video of the moment when the game was interrupted and the man was confronted by officials.
