SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, March 20, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A juvenile is in critical condition Friday night after a shooting at the Meadowbrook TRAX station near 3900 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake.

The shooting was reported about 9 p.m. in the station’s bus loop area, according to Gavin Gustafson, senior public information officer for the Utah Transit Authority.

Gustafson said a group of juveniles was at the station when another group arrived in a dark-colored sedan. An argument or altercation followed, and one person was shot.

The juvenile victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition and is undergoing surgery.

The suspects fled the scene. Three possible suspects were believed to have left in the sedan, described only as a dark-colored car. Security footage is being reviewed.

The shooting appears to be isolated to those involved and does not appear to be random, Gustafson said.

The investigation is being led by UTA Police, with assistance from South Salt Lake police, Unified Police and the Utah Highway Patrol.

Service is disrupted at the station, with delays expected on the Red and Blue lines.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information becomes available.
