KEARNS, Utah, Jan. 30, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Kearns woman has been booked on a first-degree felony child kidnapping charge after taking two 12-year-old children, one her own, from her home in Kearns to a location in Tooele County.

Jenna Ann Burgener, 34, does not have custody of any of her six children and, per court orders, she is allowed monitored visitation only, Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office said in a probable cause statement.

“She took her biological 12-year-old child and her child’s 12-year-old friend from her home in Kearns to another location in Tooele County without the permission or knowledge of either child’s guardian or parent,” the statement said. “The suspect made no attempt to contact law enforcement or any parents to notify of the children’s whereabouts.”

The statement goes on to say that the suspect admitted after being read her Miranda rights that she is aware she cannot have any of her children alone. She also admitted she did not make any attempt to notify her child’s guardians nor the 12-year-old friend’s parents to tell them where the children were.

The children were located in Tooele County with the suspect, who was found hiding from law enforcement.
