WOODS CROSS, Utah, Sept. 24, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was arrested nearly a month after his alleged robbery at a Woods Cross convenience store where his girlfriend worked as a cashier.
Dakota Russell Hess, 23, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the Aug. 27 robbery at the Fast Stop gas station, at 1508 S. 800 West.
“Dakota took money from the cashier and fled,” says an affidavit filed after the pre-dawn robbery. “Video surveillance shows a partial tattoo on Dakota’s right hand that matches Dakota’s right hand tattoo.
“The cashier later admitted that Dakota, her boyfriend, was the suspect who robbed the store. (She) stated that Dakota told her he was going to rob the store, and she identified him as the suspect when he entered. Alexandria stated that they also spoke about the investigation, the detective who interviewed her, and the suspicion that he was the suspect.”
The cashier currently faces no charges, according to online court records.
The affidavit, filed by an officer of the Woods Cross Police Department, said Hess is “currently on parole for robbery, and there is substantial evidence to show that he committed another robbery on 8/27/2024 to include video surveillance and witness statement.”
It added that “Dakota has tested positive for multiple illicit substances since being on parole, and has demonstrated he will continue to commit crimes against persons.”
