SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, July 5, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have arrested a 22-year-old man accused of shooting and injuring two men during an early morning fight Thursday.
Salt Lake City police responded at 5:19 a.m. to reports that someone had been shot at an apartment complex at 385 S. 1700 West.
Officers arrived and found two injured men, ages 24 and 22. The 22-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and the 24-year-old sustained one gunshot wound, police said.
Both men were taken to a hospital, though their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Police say Jose Jimenez-Mancilla got into a fight with both men at the apartment complex, resulting in Jimenez-Mancilla firing his gun. A gun was recovered at the scene, police said.
Officers later arrested Jimenez-Mancilla for investigation of:
- Three counts of discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony
- Discharge of a firearm causing bodily injury, a second-degree felony
- Two counts of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony
- Two counts if discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony
Jimenez-Mancilla is being held without bail in the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
