Man Attempts To Rob People In Park Before Forcing Entry Into Home

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – September 28, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A man attempted to rob two people in Liberty Park before forcing his way into another victim’s home Sunday night.

According to Salt Lake City Police, Alex McGee, 24, approached two victims in Liberty Park, 1053 South 600 East, around 7 p.m., and punched them in the face and groin while attempting to steal their laptop computer. The victims were able to fight him off and McGee ran on foot away from the scene.

Around 7:30 p.m., police then received a call from residents who live near 1600 East Sherman Avenue.  They told dispatchers a male had assaulted two people in their front yard before forcing entry into the home and assaulting the homeowner. McGee was subsequently chased away by the victims.

When officers arrived in the area, they were able to locate McGee and take him into custody.

McGee was later also identified as the person involved in the earlier event at Liberty Park.

Officers found the drug known as “spice” on McGee during his arrest. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for robbery, burglary, assault and possession of drugs.
