42-Year-Old Cedar City Man Killed In Main Street Head-On Collision

CEDAR CITY, Utah, June 18, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 42-year-old Cedar City man was killed in a head-on collision Saturday morning.

A Cedar City Police statement said one of their officers witnessed the crash which happened at 900 North and Main Street around 6 a.m.

The officer said the driver of a southbound KIA swerved into oncoming traffic while trying to evade another car which suddenly pulled out in front of him.

The KIA crossed into Main Street’s northbound lanes and hit the driver of a Nissan Titan head on.

Police said the driver of the KIA was fatally injured and died at the scene.

The woman driver of the Nissan Titan was taken to Cedar City Hospital in serious condition.

No criminal charges have been filed, but the case is being turned over to the Iron County Attorney’s Office for review.

The identity of the man who died has not been released pending notification of family.
