MAGNA, Utah, March 10, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was killed early Saturday morning after a single-car rollover near Saltair, officials said, and a Lyft driver discovered the crash site.

Police have identified the victim as Aaron Roll, 26, of Holladay.

Unified Police Department Lt. Brian Lohrke told Gephardt Daily authorities were notified of a rollover crash on the frontage road in the area of 9440 W. North Temple Street along I-80 near Saltair at approximately 3 a.m.

“What happened was a Lyft driver was coming out here to pick somebody up and came across the crash scene and immediately called police,” Lohrke said. “When we got here, and Unified Fire Authority got here, we determined the male … was deceased on scene. We don’t know what time the crash occurred.”

Lohrke said there was a concert at Saltair Friday night, an event called Get Lucky 2018, which got out around 2 a.m.

He added the driver may have left the road briefly, then overcorrected and rolled. He was ejected as a result of the crash, and may not have been wearing his seatbelt.

Roll was the only occupant of the vehicle.

“There are a lot of what ifs at this point and we’re going to let our investigators piece this together,” Lohrke said.

A Crash Analysis Reconstruction TeamĀ (CART) came to the site to determine the events leading up to the crash.

Anyone who has any information about the incident is asked to call the UPD at 801-743-7000.
