SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 11, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was rescued from the trails above the Avenues on Sunday evening after he became disoriented.
According to a tweet from the Salt Lake City Fire Department, the department’s Company 4 and Heavy Rescue Team located the man in City Creek Canyon after a call was received at about 4:45 p.m. A hiker heard the man’s calls for help and dialed 911.
Fire department crews and Salt Lake City Police personnel assisted the man. He had become disoriented at dusk and was cold, but did not need medical care.
The fire department has issued the following winter safety tip for hikers:
- Dress for changing temperatures.
- Stay oriented to trails.
- Plan your exit well before sunset.
- Share your plan for safety.
