WEST JORDAN, Utah, Oct. 23, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man was transported to the hospital after his vehicle was struck by another car and rolled Monday night on 9000 South.

West Jordan Police Sgt. J.C. Holt said the crash occurred right before 7 p.m. in the area of 9000 South and 2200 West.

Police had just received a call about a man driving recklessly on 9000 South. The caller described the vehicle and said it had almost clipped a car while changing lanes.

Holt said the alleged reckless driver then rear-ended the car in front of him. The manner in which he struck the car “was almost like a PIT maneuver,” Holt told Gephardt Daily. A PIT maneuver strikes a vehicle in a way that causes it to spin sideways and the driver to lose control.

The driver of the car that was hit and rolled, a man about 25 years old, had to be extricated and was transported to the hospital with “significant injuries,” Holt said.

The driver of the car that caused the crash, a man about 20 years old, had minor injuries — scratches and bruises — and was cleared by medical personnel on scene.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI (controlled substance) and reckless driving, Holt said.
