WENDOVER, Utah, Dec. 28, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — The police are advising women to be aware that a man using a fake Facebook account is trying to lure women into meeting with him in the Wendover area.
A news release from the Wendover Police Department says someone using the name “Esteban Rojas” has contacted several women and men through Facebook in an attempt to set up a meeting with them.
“A Wendover woman recently went to an arranged meeting place after being contacted by the unknown subject via Facebook, and encountered a slender, light complexion man, wearing a ski mask,” the news release says.
The man fled in a red pickup truck when the woman’s partner, who was with her, confronted him.
“The Wendover Police Department urges area residents to not meet with anyone making random contact with you through Facebook Messenger due to the risks of abduction or robbery,” the news release states.
The case is under investigation.
