MOAB, Utah, Nov. 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A Grand County man has been booked into jail after admitting to the theft of multiple firearms, police officials say.

An area resident reported the theft of three firearms from a vehicle on his property, and provided a tip that led to the arrest of a suspect, according to a news release from the Moab City Police Department.

The victim reported that a Smith and Wesson M&P-15, a Smith and Wesson SD4O VE .40 caliber handgun, and a Kimber Custom 2 1911 were stolen between Nov. 22 and 24.

Provided information led officers to the home of Moab resident Charles Anthony “Tony” Nelson, 21, a convicted felon who is not allowed to own firearms.

According to the news release, police obtained a search warrant, and located guns buried at various locations in the backyard. The news release says Nelson admitted to the theft, and on Sunday was booked into the Grand County Jail.
