Murray, Utah: Vigil Held For a Beloved Store Clerk
Murray, UT, March 23, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – There was an outpouring of emotion Tuesday night in Murray where dozens gathered to remember David Marsh, a local convenience store clerk shot last week during an early morning robbery.
Marsh, 62, had just opened the Lee Mart at 5900 S. 700 West when he was held up by two masked men.
According to investigators, Marsh tossed the empty cash register drawer at the robbers as they ran from the store when of one of them turned and opened fire.
The gravely wounded Marsh died Monday.
Elisha Bowers, a friend and former co-worker was devastated upon learning of Marsh’s death. “I worked with David at Smith’s about seven years ago and we just became really close. He was kind of the only father figure for a while for my daughter. He knew everybody by name and loved the community,” Bowers said, struggling to overcome the tears.
“He would do anything in the world for you,” LeNay Russell told Gephardt Daily. “He was a very, very nice person.”
Marsh had worked at Lee Mart for 25 years. Long time customers who attended the vigil took up a collection to offer as a reward for information leading to the robbers’ arrest.
