MILLCREEK, Utah, July 3, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The first of 20 new multi-use electric vehicle charging stations has debuted in Millcreek.
The Utah Transit Authority in a news release said it has joined with Rocky Mountain Power, Millcreek City and public charging network Electrify America to mark the completion of new charging stations at the Olympus Cove Park and Ride lot.
“The location provides high-powered charging stations for electric passenger vehicles as well as a fast charger for UTA electric buses,” UTA said.
“This dual-use infrastructure extends the range of UTA’s electric buses, taking more cars off the road and contributing to cleaner air across the Wasatch Front.”
Rocky Mountain Power said in a press release the project is part of the company’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program, which includes a $50 million investment in electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Utah.
“Since 2016, Rocky Mountain Power has facilitated the installation of more than 120 DC fast chargers in Utah and completed an electric highway corridor along I-15. Additionally, more than 3000 Level 2 chargers were installed to support workplaces, retail businesses and multifamily housing customers.”
The Millcreek facility, UTA said, is the first of 20 planned across the state in partnership with Rocky Mountain Power.
