OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 15, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Six years ago today, Ogden City Police officer Matthew Hinojosa first met Izzie and Evie Cason when he helped deliver them on the side of a city roadway.

On the eve of the girls’ 6th birthday, parents Beth and Shea Cason delivered them to the Ogden City Police Department for a special reunion with Hinojosa.

“Six years ago, while on patrol, Officer Hinojosa responded to an emergency call that changed lives forever,” an OCPD statement says.

“Beth and Shea Cason were on their way to the hospital when Beth unexpectedly began delivering their twin girls, Izzie and Evie, right on the side of the road. Officer Hinojosa was the first on scene and assisted in the safe delivery of the twins, who were determined to make their entrance into the world on their own timeline.

“Fast forward to today—now 6 years old, Izzie and Evie returned to visit Officer Hinojosa, bringing smiles, hugs, and heartfelt thanks. Beth and Shea recalled the chaos of that day and their immense relief when Officer Hinojosa arrived. Shea shared that the experience was so impactful, it inspired him to change careers — he now serves as a firefighter paramedic.

“It was a heartwarming reunion and a reminder of the powerful connections forged in moments of crisis,” the police statement says.

“Thank you to the Cason family for visiting, and a special thank you to Officer Hinojosa for your service and dedication!”
