UTAH COUNTY, Jan. 13, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — The Officer Involved Critical Incident team assigned to a Utah Highway Patrol trooper-involved death of an Eagle Mountain man has released the victim’s name.

The man who died was Jack Wilcoxon, 34.

“In speaking with the supervisors over the OICI team and our administrative staff, we are releasing the name of the 34-year-old male that was struck and killed during the tragic incident last week on the 7th of January,” says a statement issued by Sgt. Ray Ormond, spokesman for the Utah County Sheriff‘s Office.

“His name is Jack Wilcoxon of Eagle Mountain. In regard to the investigation, it is still ongoing,” the statement said.

Upon completion of the investigation, in accordance with standard operational procedure, the statement continues, “it will be handed over to the Utah County Attorney’s office for review. At that point, it will be up to the Utah County Attorney’s office to release their findings.”

A GoFundMe account that says it will benefit Wilcoxon’s survivors, wife Mandie and their three children, can be found at this link.

“Mandie is the devoted mother to three children — ages 8, 10 and 15 — who were the center of her and her husband Jack’s life together,” the account says.

“On Jan. 7, their world collapsed when Jack, a loving father, husband and veteran, was tragically killed while the two of them were out for a walk.

“Jack died after being struck by a Utah Highway Patrol vehicle, leaving Mandie and her children to carry a loss no family should have to endure.

“Jack was the heart of his family,” the tribute and fundraiser continues. “He was deeply involved in his children’s lives, a steady partner to Mandie, and the primary provider for the family. His sudden passing has left Mandie and the kids navigating not only profound grief, but also the immediate strain that comes with losing a spouse, a parent, and the family’s main source of income.”

The account says any donations will be used for funeral expenses and living costs.

As in all cases, Gephardt Daily cannot guarantee funds raised will be used in the manner stated. The account is labeled “donation protected.”

Gephardt Daily will share details and findings of the OICI investigative committee when its report is released.
