Update: Woman killed in auto-pedestrian accident in downtown Salt Lake City identified

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 31, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 28-year-old woman who died after an auto-pedestrian accident Wednesday at 600 South and 500 West has been identified.

The victim has been identified as Cassandra Squires, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release Thursday morning.

Squires attempted to walk southbound across 600 South in heavy traffic at 6:21 a.m., the news release said. She was struck by a vehicle coming off the 600 South exit from I-15. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A tweet from Utah Department of Transportation said the four left lanes at eastbound 600 South at 500 West were closed, as was the I-15 northbound 600 South off-ramp, but the roads have since reopened.
