PAYSON, Utah, June 11, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Payson man has been booked into the Utah County Jail on multiple charges related to downloading illegal images.

Jonathan Eugene Flaker, 49, has been charged with seven counts of sexual abuse of a minor, a second-degree felony. The charges are related to child pornography, a probable cause statement says.

Flaker was investigated after eight cyber tips were received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the statement says. One report involved a duplicate image, so only seven counts were filed against Flaker.

The files were reportedly uploaded to computers or devices traced to Flaker’s address. Police obtained a warrant to search electronic devices, and found the images, the statement says.

“He admitted to being addicted to viewing child pornography,” said a statement filed by an officer of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.

“He stated that he gets excited when viewing nude images of 12- to 13-year-old girls. He stated he had been doing (it) for approximately 5 years.”

Jail records show Flaker has been booked into the Utah County Jail 16 times since 2000.
