SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, April 26, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a FrontRunner train in South Salt Lake Tuesday afternoon.

Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen said at approximately 1:18 p.m. the driver of a northbound FrontRunner found human remains after stopping to check on mechanical issues.

“The train was stopped at North Temple when the driver thought he was having some mechanical issues. While he was checking out the train, he noticed human hair and tissue,” Hansen said.

“The driver then notified and stopped some of the other trains and one of them, located near 3900 South and 300 West found human remains underneath his train.”

After several hours police determined the woman, who was from Millcreek took her own life.

There were 41 people on board the FrontRunner, which stopped at 3900 South and 300 West, who had to be transferred to bridge buses.

Hansen said Tuesday afternoon FrontRunner customers would see delays and bridge buses in some locations for several hours.
