SPRINGDALE, Utah, Dec. 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men were arrested Saturday night after Springdale Police and Zion Park Rangers responded to a report of a male impersonating a police officer.

The call came a little before 10 p.m. from a hotel employee who said a man came into the lobby and told the employee that he needed to get into the hotel’s pool and spa in order to “apprehend someone,” a news release from Springdale PD said.

The employee said the man was wearing a badge on a lanyard around his neck, and he had gotten out of a Ford Crown Victoria, a vehicle often used by police.

The hotel employee became suspicious and called 911.

“Once a Springdale Officer arrived in the area, he observed the black-colored Crown Victoria with two people inside,” the news release said. “The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with two males.”

The driver was identified as Jeffery Snyder, of Cedar City. The passenger was identified as Alexander Buzz, also of Cedar City.

Police determined that Buzz “was intoxicated and advised officers that he was carrying a loaded and concealed handgun. Mr. Buzz also had a ‘security’ jacket and a set of
handcuffs on him,” the news release states.

Buzz admitted that the badge was his and said he used to work a security job.

Police obtained a warrant to search the vehicle and found “suspected drugs, a rifle and an additional handgun,” according to the news release.

Both Buzz and Snyder were arrested and booked into Washington County Jail.

Snyder is facing charges of possession of a weapon while under the influence and drug possession.

Buzz is facing charges of possession of a weapon while under the influence, impersonating an officer, and intoxication.
