LAYTON, Utah, Jan. 19, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A 28-year-old man has been booked into the Davis County Jail after being accused of felony offenses against a child.
Ismael Sanabria Bustamente was booked on suspicion of three counts of aggravated sexual assault abuse of a child — penetration, a first-degree felony.
A 13-year-old Layton girl told police that Bustamente, an acquaintance of her mother, touched her under her clothes when she was in her bed.
“The victim was asleep or would pretend to be asleep when the assaults would begin,” the probable cause statement says. “The victim described telling Sanabria Bustamente to stop more than one time, and stated she is afraid of him because he can come into her room at any time.”
Bustamente has access to the apartment because he is a maintenance worker for the building, the statement says.
“On at least one occasion, the suspect covered the victim’s mouth with his hand to prevent her calling for help or making noise,” says the statement, filed by a Layton Police officer.
“The victim’s mother was aware of the assaults, but had not reported the information to law enforcement.”
Bustamente was booked into jail on Thursday, and is being held without bail.
