West Valley City Police Identify Stabbing Suspect

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – July 14, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) — West Valley City Police Department has identified the suspect in a stabbing case that may be gang related. David Candelario, 21, turned himself in to investigators at the West Valley City Police Station yesterday.

According to Roxeanne Vainuku, spokesperson for West Valley City Police, Fidenzo Urcino, 20,  was stabbed at an apartment complex at 1501 W. 2320 South around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Police were originally called to the apartments due to others hearing gunshots, however when police arrived on scene they found the victim in extremely critical condition from stab wounds. He was rushed to Jordan Valley West Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Witnesses told police there was an argument that originated inside one of the apartments that eventually ended up outside. During the fight, shots were fired by unknown suspect/s and Urcino was stabbed multiple times. Detectives responded and interviewed numerous witnesses.

Through investigation, detectives identified Candelario as a suspect in the altercation with Urcino. Candelario turned himself in to investigators at the West Valley City Police Station yesterday. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on one count of criminal homicide and one count of felony two obstruction of justice.

Another person involved in this case, Xavier Anderson, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on felony two obstruction of justice. This case is believed to be gang related, however, the level of gang involvement is still being investigated.
