Police: Suspect wielding baseball bat robs Family Dollar store in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 26, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — An 18-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after he allegedly robbed a Salt Lake City Family Dollar store,  then threatened an employee with a baseball bat.

The incident occurred at the store at 855 S. State St. at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“A male entered the Family Dollar carrying a bat,” the news release said. “The clerk asked the male to leave the bat at the front of the store and the male complied. The man then concealed merchandise on his person, retrieved his bat and left the store.”

An employee followed the man out of the store at which time he threatened the employee with the bat.

Officers located the man in the area and took him in to custody without incident.

The suspect, identified as Dakota Brannan, was booked in to jail for robbery.
