Police: Two In Custody After Vandalizing Cars, Leading Officers On Foot Chase

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 3, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two suspects are in custody after police say they broke into cars in a Salt Lake City neighborhood and led officers on a foot chase Saturday night.

Lt. Andy Oblad, Salt Lake Police Department, said disptach received a call from a person in the area of 200 S. 200 East who heard sounds of someone breaking into cars.

Obland said officers found the damaged vehicles in the area mentioned to dispatch. Shortly after arriving, others officers recognized two individuals matching the description of the suspects, walking in the area of 300 E. 400 South, and stopped to question them.

“That’s when one of the two ran off, engaging officers in a pursuit. The suspect entered an apartment near 350 S. 200 East, and was found hiding inside the shower,” Oblad said. “Both suspects were then taken into custody.”

Oblad did not have information on the identity of either suspect.
