WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, May 18, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A group of youths burst into a trailer early Friday morning, assaulted the juveniles who were inside and stole several items, police said.

West Valley City Police Sgt. Anthony Chapman said everyone involved, including the victims, was a juvenile.

At about 1:30 a.m., the four or five suspects went to the back of the trailer, behind a house, and knocked on the door.

When the door opened, the suspects rushed in with what the victims believed were guns, and took several items from the trailer, Chapman said.

Two juveniles were detained by police, and Chapman said detectives were working to determine if they were involved in the robbery. Officers were looking for the outstanding suspects.

Police are calling the incident an aggravated robbery rather than a home invasion because the victims opened the door. It wasn’t known, though, if the victims and suspects knew each other.

Chapman said he had no information as to whether anyone involved is affiliated with a gang.

Injuries were minor, Chapman said, and no one was taken to the hospital.

Anyone who has any information about the case is ask to call West Valley Police at 801-840-4000.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more details become available.
