PROVO, Utah, Dec. 11, 2017 (Gephardt Dailly) — Police have two men in custody following an aggravated robbery in Provo in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Oak Cliff Drive and Oakmont Lane at approximately 2:30 a.m., the Provo Police Department said in a news release on Facebook.

“The suspects approached the victims in their vehicle, pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded their valuables including their wallets, cell phones and keys to their car, then left the location,” the news release said. The weapon was later found to be a BB gun, officials said.

An attempt to locate was put out for the suspect vehicle and shortly thereafter the vehicle was spotted by officers traveling south on University Avenue.

A traffic stop was performed and as the vehicle came to a stop, one suspect, later identified as Damon Lane, fled on foot. The other two occupants were detained. The driver, identified as Dustin Walter, was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

Police said a woman who was in the car is not thought to have been involved in the robbery, so she was not booked into jail.

Damon Lane was located with assistance from Utah County Sheriff’s Office and BYU Police Department, and arrested for aggravated robbery, criminal mischief, failure to stop at the command of a law enforcement officer and theft.
