UTAH, Jan. 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Drivers are being cautioned to slow down and be prepared for slippery roads as a winter storm brings rain and snow to most of Utah.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for central and southern Utah up into the northern part of the state through Wednesday morning.

The advisory says light accumulating snow is expected, and “the greatest impacts will be to the Wednesday morning commute across portions of northern Utah.”

Several crashes and slide-offs were reported Tuesday night in Davis County and along Interstate 15 in Salt Lake County.

“The next stronger storm system will then begin to impact northern Utah beginning with valley rain and mountain snow on Thursday. Significant snowfall is expected across the northern mountains through Friday with this storm,” the advisory says.

One to three inches of snow is expected until noon Wednesday in the Cache Valley and northern Wasatch Front, including Ogden and Bountiful.

“Plan on slippery road conditions across the Cache Valley and northern Wasatch Front, including the I-15 corridor from around Bountiful north to the Idaho border,” the NWS says.

For winter road conditions, check online at theĀ Utah Department of Transportation.
