MORGAN COUNTY, Utah, July 30, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Law officers are asking the public to not disclose information about deputies or their families following threats from a Layton man.

On Wednesday afternoon, a deputy stopped a car for speeding through a residential area in Mountain Green, according to a Facebook post from Morgan County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was not registered and not covered by insurance. A second deputy arrived as backup. The driver was cited for the violations and the vehicle was impounded.

The news release continued:

“A few hours later, deputies were alerted that the man was sending text messages threatening to find out where the two deputies live and murder their families. The Sheriff’s Office turned this case over to the Utah State Bureau of Investigation to avoid any allegations of conflicting interest. The suspect was arrested Thursday night, but bailed out of jail a short time later.

“We are asking the public not to disclose addresses or information regarding deputies or their families. If asked where deputies live or other information about them or their families, please do not provide this information. Attempt to get a license plate number and call 911.”

The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when possible.

The Facebook post has been shared more than 100 times.
