RIVERTON, Utah, March 17, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in very serious condition after being stabbed seven or eight times early Thursday morning after a confrontation with four men wearing red.
The 24-year-old victim was taken to the hospital and was scheduled for surgery.
“At about 1:30 this morning we received a call about a man laying in the road,” said Lt. Dave Cracroft, Salt Lake City Police Department.
“A trooper actually arrived before we did, and found the man in the road. He had been stabbed.”
It took police time to locate witnesses at the crime scene, 1332 S. State St.
“We finally found some witnesses and were able to get the story that there was some kind of conflict here on State,” Cracroft said. “Our victim was a pedestrian. He encountered several other males. In fact, there were four male blacks claiming some gang affiliation.
“They ended up getting in an argument. The victim was stabbed multiple times. Our suspects fled southbound in a car.”
One witness was the victim’s girlfriend, and others were people who had been in nearby businesses, Cracroft said.
