Salt Lake County DA’s Office hosts National Prosecutors’ Conference on child abuse, neglect

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Oct. 23, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The 2019 Association of Prosecuting Attorneys Child Abuse Prosecution Project National Conference on Child Abuse is being hosted by the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office in Salt Lake City, officials said.

“This is a national training conference hosted by the District Attorney’s Office, hopefully to be one of several such training conferences hosted here in Salt Lake City,” the office said in a news release Wednesday.

The training is intended primarily to educate criminal justice professionals about their roles in achieving justice for child victims of various forms of child abuse. Presenters include several nationally recognized experts in the field of medical science, criminal prosecution, investigation, and victim advocacy.

“The two-and-a-half-day conference has a preregistration of 70 child maltreatment professionals from all over the country, ranging from Alaska to Boston, Massachusetts and many other states,” the news release said.  “Those attending the conference include victim advocates, child advocacy professionals, prosecuting attorneys, law enforcement investigators, educators and several other allied professionals.”

The conference, which begins on Wednesday, Oct. 23, and ends on Friday, Oct. 25, is being held at the at the Salt Lake County DA’s Office at 35 E. 500 South.
