SANTA CLARA-IVINS, Utah, Dec. 2, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Santa Clara-Ivins officials are warning of a “Shop with a Cop” fundraiser scam doing the rounds this holiday season.
“We have received calls that individuals are attempting to solicit money, asking for donations for a ‘Shop With a Cop’ fundraiser,” Santa Clara-Ivins Public Safety posted on Facebook.
“NONE of the Law Enforcement Agencies in Washington County solicit funds for this event, and Santa Clara-Ivins PD does not solicit over the phone. This event is graciously supported by Walmart and Target.”
The post said that people who do want to donate to the “Shop with a Cop” initiative can drop a check or cash off at any local police department. Checks should be made out to “Shop with a Cop.” This donation is tax deductible.
