UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah County Search and Rescue crews are assisting four hikers who are stranded on Mount Timpanogos on Sunday afternoon.

“SAR responding to Mount Timpanogos to assist four hikers who don’t want to cross a snowfield that is melting and may have a cavern underneath,” said a tweet from Utah County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Spencer Cannon at 3:30 p.m. “The concern is that the snowfield may collapse if they try to cross. Wise to be cautious.”

The hikers are uninjured and otherwise well-prepared, the tweet said.

Gephardt Daily will have more on this developing story as information is made available.
