BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 9, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A second wildfire was announced Friday evening in Box Elder County’s west desert, causing evacuations in the Park Valley area.

“New start in Box Elder Co. near the Park Valley area,” Utah Fire Info reported just after 5:30 p.m. “Structures are threatened, and evacuations are occurring.”

The 125-plus acre Dove Creek Fire is “spreading in all directions. Multiple ground and air resources are responding. More as it becomes available.”

By 9 p.m., Utah Fire Info said the forward progress of the fire has been stopped.

“The fire is currently 594 acres and is 55% contained. A total of 12 structures were threatened but favorable weather conditions aided firefighters in protecting them.”

Further south, Thursday’s Warm Springs Fire in Box Elder had reached 20 acres by Thursday night, the agency said. A quick response from fire crews saved structures which had been threatened. It is located near the Nevada state line.
