SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, April 8, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — A 28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after Salt Lake City police investigated a social media notice allegedly offering marijuana for sale.
The man, whose name Gephardt Daily is withholding for the privacy of his children, was arrested for investigation of:
- Operation of a clandestine laboratory, a first-degree felony
- Maintenance of a drug-involved premises, a second-degree felony
- Possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, a third-degree felony
- Prohibited dangerous weapon conduct, a third-degree felony
- Three counts of endangerment of a child, a third-degree felony
“Detectives have been looking into (the suspect) due to (his) advertising on Facebook that he is in possession of marijuana and is using the social media platform to distribute the marijuana to customers,” his arrest document says.
SLCPD detectives served a search warrant on his apartment, and “located a grow that has happening in a bathroom as well as in a bedroom of the apartment. The grow had the odor and the same physical characteristics of raw marijuana. The grow had its own lighting and equipment. Additionally the grow had small marijuana plants as well as some mature plants and some that had already been harvested.”
Some growing marijuana was located in a bedroom where children’s clothing and toys were stored for his children’s use when they visited on weekends, court documents say. Drug paraphernalia, including pipes, bongs and electronic scales were also found within the reach of children, as were vacuum-sealed bags holding contents that field tested positive for marijuana.
The suspect “admitted post Miranda that he was selling marijuana to feed his marijuana addiction.”
The arrest document also noted domestic violence convictions over the last few years, and a protective order had been filed against the man.
“It should also be noted that while detectives were conducting surveillance the (man arrested) was observed conducting drug transactions out of his apartment.
