SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 28, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon in the Glendale neighborhood.

It is the second shooting death in Glendale in the last three days.

The confrontation was dispatched at 4:09 p.m. at 3075 W. Decade Drive, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in an online statement.

“Officers arrived and found a man down on the ground with a life-threatening gunshot wound,” says the 7 p.m. news release. “Officers and paramedics performed lifesaving aid, but the man died on scene.”

The department’s Homicide Squad will work with the medical examiner’s office to confirm the man’s name, cause of death and to notify next-of-kin, police said. “SLCPD has one person of interest in custody.”

The specific circumstances leading up to a fight apparently precipitating the shooting remain under investigation, police said, for what appears to be an isolated incident.

“There does not appear to be an imminent danger to the community.”

Detectives believe some of the witnesses to this incident left the scene before officers arrived. Anyone with information should call 801-799-3000.

This is the sixth homicide in Salt Lake City for 2024, according to SLCPD.

Sunday, May 26, Nico Christopher Patino, 30, was shot and killed around 4 a.m. after a party in the area of 1800 W. Fortune Road.
