SLCPD seeks tips after fatal shooting Sunday in Glendale neighborhood

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 26, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police are asking for tips from the public after a man was found shot in the Glendale neighborhood.

The man died at the scene.

Calls of shots fired came to dispatch starting at 4:03 a.m. Sunday. Officers responded to the area of 1800 W. Fortune Road.

“Officers arrived and found a 30-year-old man had been shot, the man died at the scene,” a statement released by the SLCPD public relations department says. “The SLCPD Homicide Squad will work with the medical examiner’s office to confirm the man’s name, cause of death and to notify next-of-kin.

“No arrests have been made, but based on the preliminary information there does not appear to be an imminent danger to the community.”

Detectives believe many witnesses left the scene before officers arrived. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 801-799-3000. This is the fifth homicide in Salt Lake City for 2024.
