Fatal Collision Between Two Tractor-Trailers Closes SR-28

LEVAN, Utah, Jan. 4, 2016 (Gepahrdt Daily) — A head-on collision between two tractor-trailers killed one man and closed State Road 28 for several hours Monday morning.

According to a news release from Utah Highway Patrol, the accident happened about 8:20 a.m. just south of the city of Levan in Juab County at mile post 20.5.

The statement said an empty tractor-trailer, owned by Staker Parsons, was traveling south. The truck drove off the right side of the road, then and over-corrected. The truck came back onto the roadway and crossed into the oncoming, northbound traffic.

A tractor-trailer hauling wood chips owned by Badlands Trucking out of Richfield, lent to a tree chipping company, was traveling north at the same location. The vehicle hauling wood chips T-boned the dump truck.

The driver of the truck hauling wood chips, Rodric Brett Ross, 56, of Richfield, died on scene.

The driver of the dump truck was transported to Central Valley Regional Hospital in Nephi with unknown injuries.
