WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Feb. 24, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Three people were detained for questioning following a very brief pursuit of a stolen vehicle Friday evening in West Valley City.

WVC Police Lt. Blair Barfuss said officers spotted the car and set up surveillance.

“They threw down spikes (in advance),” Barfuss said, “so when the vehicle went mobile, the pursuit only lasted about 20 seconds.” All four of the car’s tires were spiked.

Two adults, one juvenile and an infant were in the vehicle. No information regarding their relationships was immediately available. The vehicle was reported stolen from outside of West Valley City on Feb. 20, and the investigation is ongoing.

“The officers did a phenomenal job setting up the surveillance and preventing a pursuit that could have endangered people’s lives,” Barfuss said.
