WEST JORDAN, Utah, Dec. 16, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A student at West Jordan Middle School was arrested Thursday for brandishing a knife in class.

West Jordan Police Officer Scott List told Gephardt Daily the incident happened at the school at 7550 S. Redwood Rd, during school hours, in a classroom.

List said there was a dispute between two students, there was some kind of threat made, and one brandished a knife. A third student witnessed the incident, reported it to a teacher, who reported it to school administration, who reported it to a school resource office.

Police were then called.

No one was injured, and the student was taken to a juvenile detention facility.

List said though the incident took place in a classroom, it wasn’t clear whether a class was going on at the time.

“We are grateful to that student for seeing something and saying something,” said List. “They did exactly the right thing.”
