NORTH OGDEN, Utah, Dec. 10, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Area residents were without power for awhile Friday night after a vehicle took down a power pole on Washington Boulevard in North Ogden.

According to a news release from North Ogden Police, officers were dispatched at 7:24 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash at 1900 North 400 East.

“A white Suzuki SX4 was reportedly traveling southbound, when it jumped the curb and traveled approximately 45 feet on the park strip before striking a power pole in front of Big O Tires, 1893 N. 400 E.,” the release states.

The impact severed the power pole, causing power lines to fall across 400 East and knocking out power to the surrounding area.

The driver of the Suzuki, a 43-year-old woman, was not injured. Impairment is suspected, and the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, according to the release.

Traffic was diverted off of 400 East while Rocky Mountain Power removed the downed pole and lines from the travel lanes. All lanes have been reopened.
