SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 19, 2026 (Gephardt Daily) — State wildlife officials busted a hunting guide, already on suspension for prior violations, for shooting at cows with his bow.

The offender is caught on his own video shooting an arrow at cattle in Thursday’s news release from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources law enforcement division.

“During a recent poaching investigation, officers executed a search warrant on a suspect’s cellphone and recovered evidence of additional criminal activity,” the division said. “The recovered video depicts the suspect shooting his bow at a herd of cattle.”

At the time of this incident, the suspect — a registered hunting guide –was already serving a license suspension for a previous wildlife crime, the agency said. The new offense brought a conviction for attempted destruction of livestock, according to the DNR DLE.

“In addition to significant legal fees, the suspect now faces a long-term suspension of both his hunting and guiding licenses.”

Anyone with information regarding wildlife or other natural resource crimes is encouraged to report it to the Utah DNR Division of Law Enforcement in one of the following ways: UTiP Hotline: 800-662-3337UTDWR Law Enforcement app: ext: 847411

“As natural resource officers, we remain committed to protecting our natural resources for all who may use them.

“We also appreciate our partnerships and relationships with other agencies, in this case, the Department of Agriculture, and are thankful that we were able to offer support to their constituency by holding this individual accountable for his egregious actions.”
