UPDATE: Suspicious Package Forces Evacuation Of Cottonwood Heights Park

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah, June 21, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Cottonwood Heights Police said the suspicious package which prompted a bomb scare near a basketball court in Mountain View Park Tuesday was not an explosive device, but a block of wood bound with duct tape.

The bomb squad was first called to the park at 1651 E. Fort Union Blvd., just before 6 p.m.

Lt. Mark Askerlund of CHPD said the park was closed while the police department, United Fire Authority and their K-9 unit could investigate.

A bomb technician determine the package was harmless and the park reopened.
