HYRUM, Utah, May 1, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Two teenage boys from Davis County who slipped into the water of the Hyrum Reservoir Saturday were rescued after yelling “Utah Jazz!” to help emergency responders find them.
The boys, both from Davis County, were fishing in the area, and standing on a muddy bank when it collapsed. The two slid into the the water, and were not able to climb back out, according to Cache County Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke.
The boys had a cell phone, and called 911. The Cache County Search and Rescue team and several other agencies responded, but were unable to locate the teens in the marshy area.
When the boys told dispatchers they could hear the boats getting closer, the dispatchers suggested the teens yell “Utah Jazz!” to help searchers hone it.
It worked, and the boys were found, cold and muddy, but in good condition.
