WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – November 5, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – A teen is in serious condition after being hit by a car while crossing the street in West Valley City Thursday night.
According to West Valley City Police spokesperson Roxeanne Vainuku, the 15-year-old girl was crossing near the West Valley City Recreation Center at 3100 South and 5400 West when she was hit by a westbound vehicle. “The girl was originally considered extremely critical but after medical personnel worked on her and transported her to the hospital she was upgraded.” Vainuku said. “She was then taken from the hospital to Primary Children’s Medical Center by medical helicopter.”
Vainuku said the area where the girl was hit is fairly dark and the girl was not in a crosswalk.
The accident is still under investigation. Vainuku said no citations have been issued and the driver remained at the scene of the accident.
