Tooele man, 18, arrested after allegedly arranging fight between juveniles; sister was stabbed

TOOELE, Utah, Oct. 5, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — A Tooele teen has been arrested after he allegedly arranged a fight between his little sister and another juvenile, and his sister was stabbed.

Gephardt Daily is not releasing the name of the 18-year-old man arrested in order to protect the privacy of the victim.

The man was arrested by Tooele City police for investigation of:

  • Criminal solicitation of a minor, a third-degree felony
  • Conspiracy aggravated assault, a third-degree felony

“Upon arrival, officers identified the juvenile suspect who had stabbed the juvenile victim. Upon interviewing the juvenile suspect post Miranda, the juvenile suspect disclosed that (the girl’s older brother) had arranged the fight between the victim and suspect. The juvenile suspect disclosed informing (the arrested man) that they would stab the victim and had a knife, if there was an altercation.

“The juvenile suspect then advised that (the arrested man) continued to antagonize and arrange the fight over a phone call between the juvenile suspect and the victim. The victim was identified to be (the arrested man’s) little sister…. The juvenile suspect then advised that (the arrested man) was present once the fight began between the victim and the offender.”

The injured juvenile “provided me messages between her and her brother (in which he) continued to antagonize the juveniles by exchanging insults between the two juveniles. The victim advised (the arrested man) had watched the fight take place and had done nothing.

“Video footage of the incident provided by the victim showed a knife visible and viewers of the fight identifying verbally that there is a weapon being used in the course of the altercation. The video further showed that the juvenile suspect stabbed the victim multiple times. At no time in the video provided did (the arrested man) attempt to intervene. An interview with (the arrested man), post Miranda, acknowledging he knew there was going to be a fight and acknowledged the messages.”

Charging documents do not reveal the extent of injuries to the girl who was stabbed.

The arrested man was ordered held on $5,000 bail.
