ELKO COUNTY, Nevada, Aug. 24, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Two people are dead and up to 20 others reported multiple injured after a collision Saturday morning in Nevada’s Elko County.
A bus carrying miners to work collided head on with a semi just after 6:30 a.m. on State Route 766, north of Carlin and Interstate 80. The road leads to miles operated by the Nevada Gold Mines company, according to an article in the Elko Free Press.
An initial alert sent out on the accident confirmed two fatalities and said 20 people were injured. Four helicopters were sent to the scene, as were several ground ambulances, which were transporting patients to hospitals in Elko and Reno, the alert said.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jim Stewart as saying he did know if the victims killed were from the semi or the bus, The Elko Free Press article says.
