LAYTON, Utah, Dec. 16, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Utah Highway Patrol has shared additional details on a Sunday afternoon crash on Interstate 15 in Layton.

Troopers responded at 1:11 p.m. and “investigated a significant injury crash,” a UHP statement says.

“A white Dodge Ram with five occupants was traveling northbound on I-15 at milepost 331. The driver of the Dodge drifted into the median striking the center barrier, causing it to roll.

“The three occupants in the rear seat of the Dodge were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the Dodge as it rolled. One of the occupants ejected was transported by helicopter with a significant head injury.

“The other two were transported by ambulance.”

“Drowsy driving is being investigated as the cause of the crash.”

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, Cpt. Eddie Wright, Utah Highway Patrol, told Gephardt Daily on Sunday.
