Update: 6-year-old boy still hospitalized but ‘healing’ after BB gun accident in Utah County

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, June 23, 2020 (Gephardt Daily) — A 6-year-old boy is still hospitalized but “healing” after an accidental shooting involving a BB gun last week in Utah County.

The boy was flown by Life Flight to the hospital in critical condition Monday, June 15, according to a tweet from Sgt. Spencer Cannon, with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. in the North Ranch area of Eagle Mountain.

The pump-style BB gun was fired by the child’s 12-year-old brother, the tweet said.

“BB may have ricocheted, striking the younger boy in the back of the head,” the tweet added.

Cannon offered this update Tuesday: “The 6-year-old Eagle Mountain boy accidentally shot in the back of the head by his brother with a pump-style BB gun is still hospitalized but is healing and recovering. He has no major negative effects at this time. Good news!”

Gephardt Daily will update this developing story as more information becomes available.
