CACHE COUNTY, Utah, Jan. 4, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A dead man found badly burned inside a vehicle destroyed by fire late last year has been identified, according to a news release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
The Utah State Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the remains as those of Clint Yonk, 47, of Petersboro.
After reviewing evidence and conducting interviews, the investigators believe that the incident was accidental, according to a news release from the CCSO. Police added they will not have a final disposition until the state medical examiner provides a final cause of death.
According to a news release from the CCSO, at about 4:15 p.m. Dec. 18, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that appeared to be destroyed by fire. The vehicle was on rural private property on the west side of Cache County, near Petersboro.
Deputies located the vehicle and confirmed that a badly burned body was inside. The fire was not actively burning at the time of the deputies’ arrival, and appeared to have occurred within a day or so of the discovery.
Detectives from the CCSO and the State Medical Examiner’s Office, along with resources from the State Fire Marshal’s Office were dispatched to the scene.
The burned vehicle was then moved to the Sheriff’s Office, and the burned body transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for identification.
